Mammoth/Mastodon Teeth/Tusks
American mastodon right mandible and tooth. Second tooth recovered nearby and fits perfectly in the jaw.
American mastodon left mandible with 2 teeth.
American mastodon left mandible and tooth that was resting on the base of a mammoth tusk.
Mastodon Number 1 ("Suki") was likely an old animal with only one tooth in each jaw. Small tusks were found nearby and matched the broken lower tusks in the lower jaw. This animal would also have huge upper tusks.
Two close-up views of Mastodon Number 3 ("Suki") lower molar. Note extreme overbite.
